13th IMISCOE Annual Conference (Prague, June 30-July 2, 2016)

13th IMISCOE Annual Conference (Prague, June 30-July 2, 2016)
The 13th IMISCOE Conference welcomes contributions from scholars in various disciplines and on all aspects of migration, integration and ethnic studies. The migration-development nexus has been a part of migration studies for many years. Alongside issues directly in the migration field it also touches on a number of more general subjects such as the polarization of the world, global diversity issues, socio-economic inequalities, cultural changes, and more, which are relevant to a number of social science disciplines.

Both submissions that relate directly to the theme of the conference and ones that focus on topics within the broad field of migration/integration studies are welcome. The conference is open to IMISCOE network members and non-members alike. It is possible to submit individual papers, panel proposals and workshops (all sessions will each be assigned 90 minutes):

  • Papers - Submissions of paper proposals should include a 250-word abstract and the name and affiliation of the author. Papers will be thematically grouped into panels. Some papers will be admitted as poster presentations only.
  • Research panels - Proposals for a research panel should consist of 4 thematically consistent and related papers on a relevant chosen topic. Panel proposals should include a 250-word abstract of the theme of the panel, the name and affiliation of the chair, discussant, and speakers, and for each paper the title and a 250-word abstract.
  • Workshops - These can be proposals for book workshops, policy workshops, or round tables. The aim of the workshop can be to discuss research or to shape a future research agenda. Submissions for workshops should include a 400-word overview of the rationale of the workshop and the names and affiliations of the organizer(s) and persons (academic and non-academic) taking part in the workshops.

Each applicant is free to submit a maximum of one paper of which they are the sole author and one co-authored paper (in addition, some applicants may be invited to chair sessions). All submissions (papers, research panels and workshops) must be submitted no later than 1st February (24:00 CET). All submissions should be made online. Applicants will be informed of the acceptance of their submission by 31st March 2016.

The conference fee is €200; for PhD students the fee is €150. The conference fee includes all conference materials, lunches, coffee breaks, and a dinner, as well as social events and excursions. Accommodation is not covered by the conference fee. IMISCOE Research Network members can register to attend the conference free of charge. The conference fee also includes
a one-year individual membership in IMISCOE, which provides members with various benefits.
